Ever wanted one of those see through crystal shields, orb or bow? This walk through will give you a hand in achieving your goal. To begin this quest you will need to get a hold of a Caulnalain Key which can only be obtain from Shadow Lieutenants. The timer for this quest is a week in real time.

Caulnalain Key Vaule: ??? 50 Burden Units Use this item on the Caulnalain Gate.

The Caulnalain Dungeon (68.5N 5.5E) is restriction to level 26+. Suggest to bring a couple of high 30s or level 40 friends if you are going with someone in the 20s. It's a good idea for someone to go and tie to the exit portal of the Crater Cave at 70.S 12.E. It's safe both at the entrance and at the exit. But the run is a bit scary when there are Banderling Berserkers, Banderling Strikers and the other monsters. Another way is to tie to the Crater Pathway which exits inside the Crater. The run is slightly easier if people can just out run those fire elements.

There's a short cut to avoid those nasty Panumbris Shadows. Unfortunely for us only one person was able to get on top of the pit. The trick here to leave yourself enough room to run toward the portal while holding down the shift key to prepare for a full jump right when you're about to hit the potal. Let go of the shift button when you're at the blue crystals around the portal and let the feet of your character touch the top of the portal while jumping. It will help stear your character right at the portal by assessing the portal before you start to make the run. Timing is crucial.

If your group landed in the pit then just buff and ready to kill. This place is swamp by shadows range from shadows up to Panumbris shadows.

• Once buffed head East and let the high levels jump down first.
• There will be two shadows at the bottom so for those who think they can handle it go first or all jump on the count of 3.
• Head West till you come to a fork. Make a left and take the 2nd left turn towards South.
• Make a right from the large room heading East.
• Continue heading forward to the Caulnalain Gate.
• Once there make sure everyone use their keys on the gate to get the Caulnalain Portal Gem.

Caulnalain Portal Gem Vaule: 1,500 p 10 Burden Units This is a portal gem attuned to the energies of the Caulnalain Chamber. Spells: Portal Sending Difficulty: 0

For those who would like to go restock should go before anyone uses the gem. When everyone is ready to go to the next level try to have some high level characters go first to clear the 4 shadows in the room. Watch out for the portal near the destination of the gem.

• Head to the corridor once everyone used their gems. It doesn't matter which path you take at this point.
• When come upon a fork take the passage leading into the room with a lot of crystals on the ground.
• Jump down the pit to the next level.
• Head out of the room and pick a side to continue.
• You'll come upon a group of shadows include Shadows, Shadow Lieutenants and Caulnalain Shadow Leader (58). The Leader will drop a piece of flopping lump which needs translation.
• Enter the room where the shadows came from and you will find yet another pit to jump down to.
• Jump and buff at the bottom. It doesn't matter which path you take and it will lead you to your goal.
• The Caulnalain Crystal will be guarded by four Caulnalain Satellite Crystals. Use piercing low attack on the Caulnalain Crystal and it will go down fast.

Throbbing Lump Vaule: ??? p 50 Burden Units An amorphous, unidentifiable organsim with what appears to be script burned into it's flesh.

Caulnalain Gem Vaule: 0 200 Burden Units The heart of the Caulnalain Crystal.

Once you got the Caulnalain Gem you can take it to one of the three brothers in Uziz for a shield, orb or bow. They're located at 24.4S 28.7E. Orb - Gervena the Oblique, Shield - Gerloc the Defender and for the Bow - Gersan the Sureshot. If you're a crossbow user and wish to own a crystal crossbow you'll have to do a little extra work. You will have to bring Barnar the Tinker in Cragstone (25.3N 49.1E) a Wood Golem Heart. He will carve it into a suitable stock to attach to your crystal bow to make the crystal crossbow.

If you take the throbbing lump to Bretself the Translator in the Cragstone Library at 26N 47E he will help you translate it into a Shadow Missive.

Shadow Missive Vaule: 90 p 160 Burden Units A translated missive, taken from the hands of a Shadow at the Caulnalain Facility.
