This quest requires a lot of team work for players that are level 20+. There are four seperate portals with different level restrictions.

Frost Guardian Lair (level 20-39) at 52.8N 62.4E which used to be the Creature Essence. To get there you can take the Sennon Valley Retreat Settlement portal at the Arwic Settlement portals (32.9N 59.3E).

Fire Guardian Lair (level 40-59) at 73.5N 2.7W which used to the War Essence. To get there you can take the Midhill Cottages from the Settlement portals at 17.5N 61.5E (between Rithwic and Eastham).

Acid Guardian Lair (level 60-79) at 31.6S 74.2W which used to be the Life Essence. Getting here might be a little tough. The closet portal is the Sclavus Cathedral at 33.5S 80.1W. The entrance is quiet and good for buffing for the run.

Lightning Guardian Lair (level 80+) at 86.6S 10.4E used to the Item Essence. Getting here is quite easy. Take the Artifice settlement portal (32.9N 59.4E) from the Arwic Settlement portals then it's a small run from the drop.

This quest has been changed that the portal spawns quite often. According to the January '03 Letter to the Players the Guardian spawns once every hour. Once inside the dungeon buff up and bane your armor. Only been in the level 80+ where the banes needed/suggested are: Impenetrability, Bludgeoning Bane, Frost Bane (Ziggurat) and Lightning Bane (Guardian). Hang left and kill the Guardian golem (it's huge) which opens a portal inside the dungeon and closes the Guardian Lair portal. Take the portal and then jump down to the bottom of the crater to locate the NPC golem. Talk to the golem and it'll give you an Imbued Pyreal Nugget and flag you for entering the Ziggurat portal.

Asheron's Platinum Golem -> Imbued Pyreal Nugget

The Ziggurat portals are located 57.2N 47.8E. Enter the one corresponds to your level and get ready for fun. The best way to do this is clear your way through to avoid people getting stuck and left behind. The goal here is to get to the Plantinum Golem at the top. When you get to the first maze which is behind a set of doors, take the left door. Make a left then hang right will bring you up to the next level. Continue heading up to the second maze. This is where the Plantinum Golem is located. Find your way to the golem and hand in your nugget. Form a line and hand in the nugget that way only one person is handing it in at a time. Take the portal that's now opened in the room to continue with your quest.

Imbued Pyreal Nugget -> Platinum Golem -> Proving Grounds Extreme

This portal also spawns in the middle of Eastham (17.5N 63.4E) which is useful if you end up getting killed. Double click the big head (Tribunal) in the middle of the room to get your riddle. If you don't know the answer ask a fellow member. If you get 3 wrong answers it will portal you to the top of Fort Teth. Be prepare for heavy damage taken from the drop. You will have to start the quest over again in order to continue with the quest. You'll get portal into a room with rolling balls of death and given a Seal Fragment.

Seal Fragment

It's pretty tricky in here and if you're not careful you'll get knocked to death in one hit. The balls spawns from the sides of the hall and the middle of the hall. To avoid getting hit make sure you look at all directions. The balls from the sides of the hall makes it's way across the hall. The ones from the middle goes in two directions. The flat corners on the sides are the safe spots where you can stand to avoid getting run over. At the end of the hall you'll see a set of door. It's easy to hit it with melee or range weapon. Don't bother with magic. The regenerate rate is extrememly fast so try to have everyone with a range weapon hitting it. It's not suggested to melee it because of the rolling ball of death. Once the door is down it triggers the chests and portal to spawn in the room. Grab the piece and take the portal.

Seal Fragment

This part is tricky. You can't jump because there are invisible walls to prevent you from jumping across.

  • Start from the 2nd tile from left and walk up to the fourth tile (cold).
  • Walk 4 tiles right to the Fire tile.
  • Up one tile to Cold.
  • Right 2 tiles to Acid.
  • Up 2 tiles to Cold.
  • Left 1 to Acid.
  • Forward one to Lightning and leave the puzzle.
Head into the room and pull the lever to spawn the chests and portal. Try to stay out of the room to avoid the portal spawning on top of you. Get the Seal Fragment from the chest and take the portal.

Seal Fragment

Don't talk in public. If you talk publicly it will make the golems spawn. It's rummored that wielding of a weapon also triggers them to spawn. You'll get portal to the drop from the portal if you talked openly which includes casting spells. Make your way to the last room and pull the lever to spawn the chests and portal. Try to stay out of the room to avoid the portal spawning on top of you. Grab the Seal Fragment from the chest then take the portal. Combine all the pieces and hand it to the NPC golem. In return it'll give you a portal gem and imbued the fragment.

Seal Fragment

Seal Fragment + Seal Fragment = Combined Seal Fragment
Seal Fragment + Seal Fragment = Combined Seal Fragment
Combined Seal Fragment + Combined Seal Fragment = Ornate Seal

Ornate Seal + Asheron's Platinum Golem = Imbued Ornate Seal + Citadel Portal Gem

By using the gem it portals you to the top of the Citadel in the middle of the crater. Hand in the fragment to the pillar and it'll portal you into the Library. There's also a portal in Eastham that leads to the Library. Keep heading up and buff up before or after entering the portal.

Imbued Ornate Seal -> Ornate Pillar

Buff up and remember to add flame bane to your armor. This section is quite straight forward. Keep heading up and you'll be able to find Gaerlan. Use physical attacks on him and watch out for his sword. Make sure everyone gets a hit in before killing him. Take the portal in the middle of the room will bring you back into the Library. Enter the Gaerlan's Inner Sanctum portal to the West to continue your quest. Keep heading up will eventually lead you to Gaerlan's Phylacteric Prison. Double click it to get your rewards. You'll get the Elemental Master Robe, Iasparailaun and another prize according to what your character trained. Mages with War Magic be prepare to go on this quest four time and getting a war wand as a prize. This quest is on a weekly timer. Note: Only the one with the global for killing Gaerlan gets the black robe. Gaerlan is on a 3-5 mins spawn rate so if you got killed, have someone loot for you instead of trying to head back in. You can still go through the Gaerlan's Inner Sanctum to collect the prizes if you did damage to him. Expect to see more pictures in the near future.

Gaerlan Token + Agent of the Arcanum = Gaerlan Slayer

To the South of the room you'll notice there's a Citadel Apex portal. This portal takes you to the top of a Citadel where you can pick up the Martine's Mask and Robe.
